Michael Russell joins Altius Associates® as Head of Europe
Altius Associates®, a UK-headquartered investment firm specializing in private equity, has appointed Michael Russell as Partner and Head of Europe. Michael will start his new role at Altius in January and will be responsible for the firm’s European investments and European client relationships. He will serve on the firm’s five person investment committee and join the board of directors.
Michael has ten years of senior-level experience in private equity at PCG Asset Management (Pacific Corporate Group LLC) (“PCG”), where he served as the Managing Director for Europe from 2000 to September 2006. He joined PCG’s investment committee in 1998 and specialised in the design and implementation of private equity investment portfolio strategies for large pension funds and other institutional investors. At PCG he was the primary contact for European investment activities and portfolio management for European relationships.
Prior to PCG Michael worked from 1993 to 1996 in the investment banking division at CIBC Wood Gundy Securities (CIBC World Markets) in Vancouver, Canada. From 1990 to 1993 he was a corporate lawyer with Lawson Lundell in Vancouver.
He holds a combined MBA and Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia, where he also participated as an MBA exchange student in the International Management Programme at HEC. He earned a distinction for his undergraduate degree as Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta. Michael has dual Canadian and US citizenship and speaks English and French.

The company focuses on assisting its clients in constructing and monitoring diversified portfolios of top performing private equity funds.
